Gateway 200ARC bios isn't ACPI compliant ... any workaround?

Gateway's techs say the two-year old 42.03.01 is the only one available -
it's listed as being ACPI 2.0 compliant, but Vista's not happy and won't
install...

thanks for any suggestions!

I just flashed my BIOS to 42.03.01 today, and Vista still BSOD's with the ACPI error as it boots from the DVD. Hopefully we'll get an update. Most likely they want us to buy a new laptop.

Did you try Post 9 from http://www.notebookforums.com/thread134748.html ?
He says:
"I was having he same problem posted here, and managed to fix it. Do this at your own risk.

So the Gateway 200ARC is actually just a rebadged Samsung NX05. I found a BIOS for that machine at Samsung's Australian support page and boldly installed it. Viola, problem went away and I was able to install Vista Beta 2.

Not only that, but now whenever the PC boots it throws up a huge Samsung logo, which I kinda like The BIOS is similar but slightly different (yeah, still only a few tweakable options). So far haven't had any issues, though it took about 5 minutes to boot the first time (I was worried I'd just bricked my PC!)

Again, use this at your own risk/peril. Link is here."

I'm going to try it now.
