Vista - Logitech QuickCam 8.4.1

I asked this question earlier but due to my lack of expertise did not
provide sufficient info.
I know that this Webcam is NOT Vista-supported by Logitech but wondered
whether any of the more knowledgeable contributors here might know of a
workaround.

I was able to use my Logitech QuickCam by installing this driver
http://www.logitech.com/pub/techsupp.../qc1050enu.exe

Thank you - but this does not drive vers. 8.4.1. in Vista. Tried it before
but did so again just in case. A lost cause perhaps?

What happened when you installed it. Were there any error messages?

Mine is also not supported by Vista, a Logitech Quickcam for Notebooks Pro.
I have an HP dv2123tx notebook, previously the built in webcam also doesn't
work, but when I installed this driver, the built-in webcam plus my Logitech
Quickcam worked.

Maybe you can try to uninstall the drivers that you have installed and then
install version 10.50?

Hi Szajd.
Mine is a QuickCam 8.4.1. Does the suggested procedure still apply? Just
would like your opinion as there is a large download and procedure involved.

Actually, there's no such camera as "QuickCam 8.4.1"... 8.4.1 is a version
of the Logitech driver/software for a whole lot of QuickCams (like QuickCam
Zoom).

This (unofficial, and unsupported) workaround should work for those who has
a webcam which isn't supported by the 10.x driver (which is tailored to
Windows Vista, but doesn't support all webcams). This tricks the installers
into installing some of the 10.x driver (for installation, and recognition,
and I don't know), plus the needed driver files from 8.4.1 (XP drivers).
