| | RE: Import Issues Corey, Try checking a Vista report for specific errors and corrective measures to take: Click on Start (icon) and select All Programs. Then, select Maintenance > Problem Reports and Solutions. When that report opens, select from among the Tasks on the left margin and elsewhere. Peruse the report and look for any specific information about what caused your problem (or other problems while you're at it). If you get some insight from the report, take the corrective action suggested in the report. Just something to try, since Vista logs errors and hopefully it will in this case. Let us know whether any of this is useful. We like to know, too. -- freddy "Corey" wrote: > Hey All, > > I have a alienware computer and i have just got vista. | | RE: Import Issues Corey, I looked at the error report, and I think it tells me that Movie Maker (MOVIEMK.exe) crashed because some code violated where it's supposed to reside in RAM. I found information on the Internet that explains it this way when that happens: "This is called a Buffer Overrun error. If the memory accessed beyond the string is not allocated to the process, then a C0000005 exception (Access Violation) will result." Note the Exception Code on the report. I really don't have the expertise to help you troubleshoot or diagnose your problem. However, this much I can tell you. This issue is not necessarily the fault of Vista or of Movie Maker, though it's not impossible. The problem can be caused by other software running on your computer. I used google to find similar problems on the Internet that have been posted by other people. Some people resolved this problem by removing applications such as Nero, a CD/DVD burning software. A good way for you to troubleshoot this issue is to use google to search for what other people have done in this situation. You can start by reviewing the posts on this site that I located: http://blog.stevex.net/index.php/200...opped-working/ I used the search term: c0000005 movie maker vista (got lots of hits) You may well find a solution that has worked for others. If you can't get to the bottom of this, I'd suggest a call to Microsoft Product Support, because this problem is too technical for most of us here. Anyone else? -- freddy "Corey" wrote: > > > "freddy" wrote: > > > Corey, > > > > Try checking a Vista report for specific errors and corrective measures to > > take: Click on Start (icon) and select All Programs. I will reply again if I find anything out.
