RE: wireless connection

reni,

Is this a problem that commenced immediately after you installed the
wireless system? Or did it start sometime after it was operating properly?
These are important to understand to be able to have some idea of where to
start.

Also, If you have any security enabled on the modem/router (whatever type
setup you have), then the wireless card must be configured to match those
settings. We don't know what your setup is or how it's configured. This
fact makes it difficult to respond with any kind of useful information.

You need to change the way vista attempts to gain access to any internet device since it uses a completely unsupported method, goto www.vista64.com coming soon! to find a guide on how to change the DhcpConnForceBroadcastFlag

Re: wireless connection

Is the Linksys router set to automatically renew the IP address? Read the
router manual or call Linksys for support.

Re: wireless connection

Eh what? My 64 bit machines connect just fine without any fussing with
flags. Thanks but no thanks. Or perhaps they do it differently in Mexico.
In the US, we don't need to change ANYTHING.

Well Cari your hardware configuration is different, of course your going to have different results for anything on vista, theres no need to try insult someone when they know what there talking about, There was 41 people I have had to service with this exact issue.

Vista will default to the old DHCP broadcast flag after trying the default one around 8 times, there are many people experiencing this DHCP error and hundreds of others with vista.

checkout vista64.com where I and many others help with vista related issues very frequently.

Cari I would just love to know how you think Mexico is Australia?

Re: wireless connection

As I say, my XP and Vista and 2003 PCs all run fine - whether they run 32
bit or 64 bit software. 41 people out of 11 million is a rather small and
insignificant issue really. It may be you are trying to run with hardware
incompatible with Vista.

Where did I even mention Australia? Oh, do you mean the word 'us' as in us
here in the UNITED STATES. I believe you might have looking for the word
OZ, slang for Australia, but I made no mention of it anywhere in my posting.
I'm well travelled and have been to both Mexico and Australia, they have
very little in common.

So as I replyed you have different configurations, is is hard for you to realise there actually are millions of different ways computers are hardwired making each one a entirly different configuration and problem? I guess not...

43 (now) out of around 60-70 People using vista I know first hard experience this specific problem with Vista networking,
I just might not know that 11million you speak of but I guess theres a few really big issues with vista considering the percentge of people wanting help with problems, mates of mine have spent days making sure customers products work with vista and this broadcast Flag allmost tops our checklist with a few hundred other things.

You didnt mention australia thats right cause you have no idea where I am from you just decided to insult me anyway.

I am very aware of our slag here too so stop being a bogan and before you attempt to help others make sure you help the person who needs it and not just come up with a quick fix idea then insult anyone else with a different solution, Im guessing its because they might know more than you though.
