Won't resume from Hibernation...

I put my PC to sleep (hibernate) and when I turn it back on it goes through
the "Now resuming..." screen and then it shows a black screen with a "_"
flashing in the top left-hand corner. That's where it stops. I then have to
restart the PC and Windows asks if I'd like to try again or just delete the
data and boot normally... I have to choose the latter option.

Any ideas on what this could be?

(Vista x64, 2GB RAM, C2D 2.4GHz, Gigabyte P35-DS3R, GeForce 8800GTS, DVICO
HDTV Tuner)

Re: Won't resume from Hibernation...

Sadly it could be just about anything, from bad drivers to a BIOS in need of
updating to a cranky program you have running that doesn't like hibernation
mode. Usually the easiest way to "fix" this sort of problem is not to use
power saving modes that don't work properly for you.

intclass,

Here is some additional information and links to fixes:

http://neosmart.net/blog/2006/vistas...akeup-support/

It's possible those may help, but maybe not.

Re: Won't resume from Hibernation...

The first thing to try is to reset the hibernation file. In Start Search
type cmd. Right click cmd.exe in the list above and pick Run as
administrator. Type the following commands:

powercfg -h off

powercfg -h on

This will recreate the hibernation file. If this doesn't fix it then look in
the event logs for what driver or program is causing the problem. In the
Start Search box type eventvwr.msc and press the Enter key. Allow the UAC
prompt. Drill down to Applications and Services Logs => Microsoft => Windows
=> Diagnostics-Performance => Operational and look for events in the 300
range Standby Performance Monitoring. This will help to identify the culprit
causing the problem. Fixing it may be harder. If it's a driver there's not
much you can do except lobby the manufacturer to improve their Vista driver.

RE: Won't resume from Hibernation...

First, i suggest you could update your motherboard driver or BIOS, and then,
trying to get a update from Microsoft.
