Screen freeze after Startup with installed new ram added

I'm having pbm with two ram PC5300, 200-Pin SODIMM (512MB Samsung and 1GB
Kingston) after installed it on my laptop which the screen just freeze after
Vista startup. The BIOS could detect the total ram size as well as on the
Vista welcome center display. There's no issue on XP MCE before i upgrade to
Vista Home Premium (32bit).
Below was the pbm reporter:

Problem caused by computer hardware

This problem was caused by an unrecoverable hardware error that caused the
operating system to stop functioning.

Troubleshooting

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have received this error more than once, it could indicate a serious
problem with your computer. We recommend that you do the following:

Back up your files to avoid data loss in case of a complete hardware failure.
Contact the original manufacturer of your computer to determine the specific
component which is failing.

The display adapter was Mobile Intel(R) 945GM/GU Express Chipset Family
(version 7.14.10.1244 dated 3/30/2007).

Could someone enlight whether the pbm liase with difference ram manufacturer
or must use the same capacity? Any workaround to solve this if i want to
keep both ram (1.5GB) instead?

Re: Screen freeze after Startup with installed new ram added

Your problem is that you have 2 different sizes of DDR2 memory instead of a
matched pair. If might have worked on XP but not on Vista. Suggest you
replace the 512 Samsung with a 2nd 1GB Kingston

Re: Screen freeze after Startup with installed new ram added

Run MemTest86 to test the memory.

if MemTest86 detects a ton of errors, there could be issues with either a
bad stick of ram, or a compatibility issue with the ram used together or the
ram and the motherboard.

http://www.memtest86.com/

MemTest86 is a free download that you can burn to CD (ISO), or put on a
Floppy.

Re: Screen freeze after Startup with installed new ram added

I guess there's no issue with the ram with mobo as it worked on XP before.
Perharp an identical matching pair (same type, manufacturer, size, ...) of
ram need on Vista....**gosh** Thanks for sharing the light with me...TT"
