Problem installing mobile phone software in Vista

I am unable to install the software required by my mobile phone.
In Control Panel when I open Phone Monitor Options and click on the Com
Ports tab I get an error message “Run a legacy CPL elevated has stopped
working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows
will close the program & notify you if a solution is available” No such
notification has been received.
I would be grateful for any assistance in resolving this issue.
Thank you
JJ Mac

Re: Problem installing mobile phone software in Vista

you need to insure the programs are vista certified.
check with the manufacturer to see if they have any.

Re: Problem installing mobile phone software in Vista

Mikeyhsd
Thanks for your suggestion and offer of help.
My phone is a Sony Ericsson K610i. I downloaded the Vista compliant
software (Sony Ericsson PC Suite 2.10.21) from the internet. When I tried to
connect the phone I got an error message “ No phone was found”. I got in
touch with Sony technical support and they advised me to enable COMS5 &
COMS6 listed under the COM Ports tab. Not being able to open the COM Port (
legacy CPL elevated fault) I assumed that the problem is with my Computer
(which incidentally is only 6 weeks old) rather than with the Sony software.
I have, however, referred the problem back to Sony support but have not had a
response from them as yet.
Regards
