| | USB now does recognise new devices I have a new OQO Model 02 1.5GHz VIA CPU, 1 GB RAM, 60Gb HD running windows Vista Ultimate (with all the necessary updates). I have a problem with it. I plugged in a Freecom external USB HD which the OQO recognised and installed. I managed to install some applications and transfer some files. However the power supply to the HD was loose so the drive disconnected/reconnected several times in quick succession. However the drive still works perfectly. However, the OQO will now not work with any other USB device – mice, memory sticks, other HD/card readers or USB CD drive. It just doesn’t even begging to try to recognise them. I think vista has locked up in the auto-detection sequence and now cannot see new USB devices. They don’t even appear in device manager. Is there a way to reset the whole usb / plug and play detection routines? Or is there another cause to why one USB device worka but nothing else does? I don't know if this helps but if i plug in the freecom drive after attempting to use anothe usb device, then it won't mount. i need to safely remove it, then re-insert. it works then... Cheers, a |

| | RE: USB now does recognise new devices bob, I don't know whether the following link to a HP website for troubleshooting USB issues will be useful, but it's worth looking at to see: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...name=c00820197 USB issues are universal, so something there may help. -- freddy "bob" wrote: > I have a new OQO Model 02 1.5GHz VIA CPU, 1 GB RAM, 60Gb HD running windows > Vista Ultimate (with all the necessary updates). I just re-read your original post and it looks like you have an OEM version of Windows. You will need to contact the place of purchase for support. Sorry I couldn't have helped more. My retail copy is over 3 months old and so I wouldn't be able to get the download for you. Captain Roberts |

| | Re: USB now does recognise new devices Thank you all for your support and suggestions. I have officially given up ![]() and returned the OQO to the supplier for a replacement. I think that the problem is more likely to be a fubar USB port. Hopefully i will be in possession of a shiny new (and working) OQO tomorrow. Thanks again everyone!
