Microphone problems

I have got a problem with my microphone.
I just have a normal headset and this used to work in the beginning.
Last week installed a blue tooth headset which didn´t work properly.
Therefore I tried to use the normal mic. again but it isn´t working any more.
If i try to use skype or the voice recognition it always says that nothing is
heard when I am speaking.
Can someone help?

RE: Microphone problems

Don,

Since I have no knowledge either about what you have done to troubleshoot
your issue or about what bluetooth device you tried to install, I'll cover
both situations by saying that the Sound area in Control Panel may hold the
answers, as follows:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933144/

Let us know whether that article has anything useful for your issues.

RE: Microphone problems

Hello freddy,
thanks for your responce. I did try to configure the sound in the sound area
but it still doesn´t work. I deactivated the blue tooth so that the blue
tooth headset can not be found when trying to work with the normal headset.
The sound configuration also only shows the following mic:
Mikrofon / Line-In
SigamTel High Definition Audio CODEC
Used
I don´t even have the chance to change two mics. I just want to use the
normal headset again. Once thats working I can still try the blue tooth
headset again. But at the moment I just need advice concerning the normal
headset.
The article didn´t help me at all. I had already tried those things
described there.
The blue tooth headset I tried to install was the following:
Dell BH200 Bluetooth 2.0 EDR Stereo headset.
Can you give me any more advice to solve my problem.
Don

RE: Microphone problems

Don-Pepone,

Since the mic was working before you tried to install the Bluetooth, the
problem must have been initiated by that installation attempt, just my logic.
Based on that logic, try uninstalling your audio device in Device Manager.
Just unfold the Sound, video and game controllers, and then right click the
sound card and select uninstall. The idea here is to have Windows reinstall
and thus reconfigure the sound card when it reboots. Sometimes doing this
fixes problems like you have. Let us know what happens.

Also, regarding the Bluetooth device, did it come with drivers? and are the
drivers Vista compatible? when you install anything and everything on your
computer, make sure it is Vista compatible.

RE: Microphone problems

Thanks freddy.
I will try that. The thing i am wondering about is that it is only the mic
which does work. The sound of the headset is still working.
Thats why i am not sure whether it realy is a problem of the drivers. Is it
possible that a problem with the driver causes only the mic not to work when
the sound is still working?

Re: Microphone problems

I just set up a bluetooth stereo headset on my computer tonight. I also had
the same problem with Skype. I found out that the Vista bluetooth stack
installs 2 services for the sound portion of the headset. One is a "stereo
headset" and the other is a "audio headset". If I choose the "bluetooth
stereo heasdset" from Skype - the sound does not work. If I choose the
"bluetooth audio headset" from Skype, then the sound works fine. I can only
assume that it is because Skype doesn't do stereo - only mono. The stereo
works great with Windows Media Player.

RE: Microphone problems

Don,

Forgive me for first sending an empty reply. This is the first time I've
used this service.
I have exactly the same problem you had, i.e. no recognition of the
bluetooth mic. I've contacted Dell, my new computer provider, Bluetooth
site, and Vender site with no success. Did you actually get the bluetooth
working or just back to your original sound setup? I think I've been to
every screen in the setup system trying to fix this. I'm stubborn, but am
getting discouraged.
