Low disk write performance on Promise EX8350/Raid0/Vista64 Busines

I have six hdd in raid0 on this controller. This config worked fine with
XP/XP64 bit but I'm getting write speeds TEN TIMES(!) lower with Vista
Business 64bit (around 20 MB/s). Read speeds are ok. Any suggestions?

Bufi,

Have you checked to make sure you're using the latest and proper Vista 64
bit drivers for that controller?

Yes, I'm using the latest drivers and bios/FW from Promise website. They
worked fine under XP 64bit edition.

Just checked that array works as expected with two and three drives, maybe
it's a capacity issue (5 x Seagate 320GB NCQ HDD)? I'll check some other Raid
configurations and post info here.

Were you using over a Terabyte configuration on XP also?
Do you have multiple partitions on the logical drive?

Re: Low disk write performance on Promise EX8350/Raid0/Vista64 Bus

Yes, the config was the same. (one large 1,45 TB drive, one partition)

However, I fixed the problem. After installing WebPM (controller config
utility via web browser) I realized, that all disks have write cache
disabled. After enabling it I rebuilded the array and now it works like a
charm.

Still don't know how I managed to get it working under XP. I never needed to
use WebPM, always configured the array from bios.

Anyway, thanks for your help.
