RE: freeing cached memory

marius.r,

You likely need more RAM. Vista runs pretty good with a minimum of 2 GB of
RAM. To see how much RAM you have installed, right click Computer (formerly
My Computer) and select Properties. In the window that opens, you can see
how much RAM you have installed. To upgrade RAM, install only the same type
RAM that is already installed in your computer.

Re: freeing cached memory

Cached memory is freed but not all memory is cached. If there is not enough
memory available for those files or programs that can not be cached then
space is normally made available by writing these files to virtual memory.
So make sure you have at least as much memory allocated for virtual memory
as you have main memory.
