(ati x700pro)Resolution Sizes wrong, plus no video card options

Hey there, well I have been trying for awhile now and it seems I can not get
Vista to a resolution of 1600x1200. Before you ask, yes, it used to work. My
monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 955DF and it supports up to 1800+ I believe.
My video card is the x700 pro from Ati.

Now from what I can tell vista seems to think I have a widescreen monitor.
It is giving me resolutions like 1380 x 1050 or even 1680 by 1050 Really
screwed up. So naturally like you were about to say I assume it is wrong
drivers. Well I updated to the actual Vista drivers from ATI, no go. still
crap. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. No go. I though perhaps I could
force the monitor into 1600x1200 res, so I went into the Catalyst Control
Center, it seems that the video adapter is not recognized or something.
Because it doesnèt know what video card I am using.

Oh also in the display options in the advance section under adapter it says
the radeon card but all the stuff underneath is greyed out and unknown. And
the Hardware acceleration is grayed out too, doesnèt work. I am very
frustrated to say the least.

thank you to any ideas and help you folks could give me

BTW, yes I do realize I randomley capitolized words lol
