Primary display switches to external monitor

Hi all,

When I plug an external monitor to my Toshiba M55-S1001 laptop running vista
ultimate the display switches to external monitor and it becomes primary
display without detecting any external monitor. When I try to switch back to
laptop using fn F5 nothing happens. Even unplugging the monitor gives a blank
laptop screen

RE: Primary display switches to external monitor

mi_user,

I did a quick google search and found the following. Take a look to see
whether it contains anything that could be useful:

I'm sure there are other links out there with information.

RE: Primary display switches to external monitor

I tried it and it doesnt work. For me an external display is not even
detected. The display switches to external monitor and their is no laptop
display anywhere to be found. Only when I restart the computer does the
laptop display come back on. Microsoft is really finding new ways to irritate
crap out of people.

RE: Primary display switches to external monitor

mi_user,

Try checking the Toshiba website for updated graphics card drivers, and/or
contacting Toshiba support for advice. It's possible that a driver update
may correct the issue. I'm not sure what's the problem.
