Hi there
my problem is that Windows Vista (Ultimate, 64Bit) can't find the standard USB-Massstorage driver ... When I connect a USB Stick or MP3 Player or my mobile phone to the USB port (any USB port) it says it needs a driver and when I say go and get it ... look for it ... it can't find any ... please help me! NO USB Storage device is working and I don't know what to do. This is so rediculous ... I bought Windows and can't get USB to work ... |

Problems with USB memory sticks are not uncommon in Vista and there is a fix that appears to work for many (it worked for me). Locate the file INFCACHE.1 on the PC. You'll find it in <OS drive>\Windows\inf Give yourself full control of INFCACHE.1 by right-clicking on it, then Properties->Security->Edit to add your users group with full control. Delete INFCACHE.1 Reboot your machine, then try the USB memory stick. Hopefully, Vista will now find and install the needed driver. |

Probably there are more files missing then but the USBSTOR files are most frequently used ones. There are copies of the files in C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository - just copy them to C:\Windows\INF. Uwe |
