| | Re: Card reader on toshiba laptop Have you tried uninstalling the card reader in Device Manager and then scanning for new hardware so it is re-installed? Yes this was the first thing I tried it searches says it has found it but cannot install it, the card reader works fine with my other SD card but not with the Sony one |

| | Re: Card reader on toshiba laptop Check with Toshiba. There may be a known incompatibility between the Sony card and the reader or it might be an early symptom of reader failure. I assume you have tested the Sony card and can read it in other devices. If the reader works with another card it doesn't sound like a faulty reader. There should be no card in the reader when installing it as a device. | | Re: Card reader on toshiba laptop Sorry for the double post.. im new to Windows Help. I am having a similar issue with the sony memory stick pro duo. Ill start from the beginning so maybe someone will find something im missing. I have a Gateway MX 8710 that i bought right before Vista came out. It has a built in memory card reader and when i purchased it i got the free Vista Home Premium upgrade. The card reader worked greatwith the pro duo on XP and worked great when i first installed Vista. I used it repeatedly and everything was fine UNTIL i bought a Sandisk Ultra II SD card to use as readyboost. I stuck the card in and it gave me the option to use the card as readyboost so i did, great... A couple weeks later i went to use the built in card reader to change some music up on my phone and took out the Sandisk and put in the Pro Duo card and it showed flash memory but when i would click on it to open it up, it kept giving me a message telling me to "please insert a disk into Removable Disc. I thought maybe it was an issue with the notebook since it was having another issue with the processor. When i went to send in the notebook for repair (which by the way took a total of 72 hours from my door back to my door YAY GATEWAY) and they told me to return it to the original XP setup, so i did. When i got it back i installed Vista fresh and the memory card reader worked with the pro duo card and it was fine THEN after i was done i put the Sandisk back in to use it as readyboost again and that worked. Later i went to use the prop duo stick again and got the same error message. Now i cant use the Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo because the i get the insert disk into Removable Disk message again. I know its not the card reader because The Sandisk works fine and 1 minute before i put it in, the Sony worked. Any suggestions? I cant find anything else online about it.
