more usb problems

I have been having problems with new and already installed usb devices
recently, the new one ( xbox 360 controllers ) just won't work, I have tried
everything and still can't seem to get them to work and they won't even get
recognised in "game controllers" in control panel.

the already installed devices stopped working ( belkin bluetooth dongle, old
gamepad ) but the mouse seems ok so far.

I have noticed there seems to be some issues on this message board with
usb's and some solutions with the hot fixes, my problem is I am not sure
which one to use as I have never used a hot fix in the past and was hoping
you guy's could point me in the right direction. Also these hot fixes do
they really work and if I install the wrong ones what kind of harm can they
cause.

thanks for any help

Re: more usb problems

I have read in various sources that next Tuesday's Windows Update will include
USB fixes. Perhaps you should wait a little before you try the hotfixes.
