corrupted video driver

I have the same problem as many others when my computer comes out of sleep
mode. If I try to play any game after sleep mode the screen has all sorts
of corruption. The strange thing is if I run 3DMark 06 first, there will be
no corruption! Why would that make a difference? Shouldn't that be
corrupted too? I have the latest drivers and all my games are up to date.
