Vista - connecting laptop to tv

Hello everyone, iv got a samsung laptop with windows vesata on and iv
connected it to my tv but it only shows black and white how do i change it to
colour i would really appricate your help thankyou

Not all s-video connectors are the same. Some will only give blank & white
while others will give color, so all you can do is try different makes of
connectors until you get one that works. Hope this helps.

If the sending computer does not sense the proper impedance over the color
pin of the connector the sending computer will merge the color and Intensity
signals and send that signal over over the intensity pin essentially
converting the S-Video to composite.
You may have a bad s-video cable or a bent pin in your S-video cable
connector.
Possibly your TV does not provide the proper impedance. Some TVs do not
provide the proper impendence unless they are turned on. With some graphic
card drivers you can force the S-Video to send the proper signals by not
letting the driver Auto detect the interface and manually set it to S-Video.
