Vista - Vista-Mouse freeze when switching users

Home Premium, Pre-installed by Dell at purchase, not installed by me or an
upgrade-USB optical mouse-Dell E521, AMD Duo Core +5500, 2GB RAM-Cursor
occasionally freezes when switching users, at user-select screen. I'm able
to use keyboard to navigate down to "switch-user" and enter, then mouse will
work again. I don't know if I've supplied enough info, but any suggestions?

Tim, It looks like you never got a response in this newsgroup. I have the same problem. Every 6 or 7 times I switch users, the mouse freezes. I can unfreeze the mouse by unplugging and reinserting the mouse's USB plug. I'm wondering if you found a solution. I have Vista Home Premium 32bit. I have switched from a wired mouse to a wireless MX Revolution mouse with no change at all in the way this problem occurs.

I'm not really up for trying somebody's IDEA of what might fix it. I'm looking for someone, like Tim here, who has had this problem and/or knows what will fix this issue.

I have an HP system and it does exactly the same thing when switching users - time for XP or a MAC.. POS MS>>>

I also have this problem. I.e. Change user results in USB mouse stops working. Unplug/plug back in resolves it, but its a pain. I'm also using a HP (Pavilion). Vist Home Premium 32.

I have the same problem too with my HP pavillon dv6868ca, vista home premium
32. It happens when I switch users without logging off first. No problem when
I logoff first before I switch users.
