USB 2.0/1.1 - SLOW

Hi,

I'm running Windows Vista 64bit. I have digital camera with USB1.1 support and ipod with USB2.0 support. My problem is, that transfer speed is very slow ... 400kb/s(ipod) and 60kp/s(camera). I tried to change settings in device manager, but without any success.

Do you have the same problem? Can someone help ?

Thanks

Re: USB 2.0/1.1 - SLOW

1.1 on the camera limits your speed to what you are seeing and there
is nothing you can do to improve this since it is on the camera. an
external card reader may help if the PC is USB 2.0.

Re: USB 2.0/1.1 - SLOW

does device manager confirm that your USB ports are 2.0?
is the USB cable a 2.0 cable?
are you transferring using windows explorer or iTunes or other
software? if software, it would be hard to determine how much
overhead there is.

Re: USB 2.0/1.1 - SLOW

400kpbs is slow also for usb1.1, but my ports are usb2.0 and cable original(came with ipod). And it doesn't depend on software .. it is slow in explorer and also in total commander.

Re: USB 2.0/1.1 - SLOW

I'd first check with the computer manufacturer's download site for
chipset drivers. (You didn't mention what computer you were using or
provide details so it's tough to be more specific. what is the USB
controller? what driver? etc.)

There are multiple reports of USB speed issues on Vista, but nothing
conclusive. The solutions range from different drivers to different
cables to attaching a powered USB hub.
