Microsoft Fingerprint Reader & Vista Sidebar bug.

Hardware: Microsoft Fingerprint Reader (DigitalPersona, Inc.)
Driver: Microsoft Fingerprint Reader 3.0.0.187
OS: Windows Vista Business

For some reason, every time my mouse hovers over the sidebar, I get a
fingerprint login prompt. That never happened before. How did this bug
happen and how do I get rid of it?

Re: Microsoft Fingerprint Reader & Vista Sidebar bug.

I downloaded the program from Microsoft on the off-chance that I just needed
to reinstall the thing. DPPM_201_ENG (v2.0.1) and now the log in bug only
happens with my address book gadget on the sidebar. Weird. What now?

Re: Microsoft Fingerprint Reader & Vista Sidebar bug.

This is driving me crazy as well. It actually overwrites gadgets such as
calculator, impeding me from even typing in numbers for a simple calculation.
I hope there's a fix for this soon. That's it, I'm going into my registry
to see if there is a way to stop it from looking at every page that contains
an input field.

Thanks to Michael at this post:

Romoving the MSN account logon from my fingerprint reader definitely
fixed the problem.

Re: Microsoft Fingerprint Reader & Vista Sidebar bug.

I don't have this MSN account on mine and I am still having the fingerprint
icon over the top of my gadgets too. I have deleted the software out and
reinstalled it even though it was the latest and greatest. This is also a
new Dell with vista Ultimate so there was never any old programs to wreak
havick with the software. It was also I believe one of the very first
programs I installed after setting up the computer. Now it didn't do it the
first couple days but as I added more gadgets it started doing it.

I also have no MSN accounts tied to this and have been waiting for
someone to post a fix for months.

Re: Microsoft Fingerprint Reader & Vista Sidebar bug.

After unsuccessfully trying all the different solutions, I have finally
come up with a fix that works (at least for me) with the whole
fingreprint reader and vista sidebar issue.

I suggest backin up your logons before trying this fix.

To fix:

1) Login to your Fingerprint Logon Manager

2) Find and remove any logons with the word (Obsolete and a date) next
to it.

That did it for me.
