Re: Dvd Driver does not read

- try a system restore.
- if the problem continues, uninstall it from the device manager and restart the computer.
- make sure no DVD is in the drive when you turn on the computer.

Re: Dvd Driver does not read

Cal Bear 66 saved my ass! The method he suggested - as outlined in the link
- worked for me. I have a new Acer computer running Vista Home Premium. I
had no problem with the disc drive since I bought it (2 weeks ago) until now.
Today - all of a sudden! -I insert a DVD and nothing happened. I inserted
a different one and still nothing happened. Then I looked under START /
COMPUTER and it didn't even show up as having a disc drive. I freaked! I
called the store and they gave me no suggestions (typical) but I found this
discussion group and went through a lot of talk until I came upon Cal Bear 66
suggestion. I did as instructed in the link - VERY CAREFULLY - and presto!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH Cal Bear 66!
ps - In the final steps it says remove the Upper Filter and also the Lower
Filter. I did not see a Lower Filter in my list but I did find an Upper
Filter which I removed and it solved the problem.
