| | Re: Vista Business 32bit Creative Driver Issue Ok so I ran SBAXVSD_PCDRV_LB_2_12_0001.exe, I chose Restart Later. Checked Device Manager and it was still the same - 'Multimedia Audio Controller'. If I check the properties for this it says, "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) There is no driver selected for the device information set or element. To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver." And if I try to open Creative Audio Console it gives me the error I've already listed. I'm actually mind boggled. |

| | Re: Vista Business 32bit Creative Driver Issue I'm a little baffled, too. Try this. In Device Manager, right-click 'Multimedia Audio Controller' and choose Update Driver Software. Then choose "Browse my computer for driver software." Under "Search for driver software in this location", Browse to C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore. Click OK once you've found that folder, then click Next... | | Re: Vista Business 32bit Creative Driver Issue dean-dean : I've tried that a few times, doesn't work. ![]() Snafu-Bar : How do I go about removing the registry strings for the drivers, I don't know what to look for, and also any driver components lying around windows? Any program that can remove this, or could you point me out to the right files, registry strings? Thanks. |

| | Re: Vista Business 32bit Creative Driver Issue I have 3 virtually identical machines, the first one I install the XFI and the first install hung, so I redownloaded the update file from creative site, Reinstalled and this time it worked- altough some oif the other programs don't- sound font, wave studio etc all return the error that the device or drivers aren't installed properly but the card does work as well as the "alchemy" application. My 2nd machine hangs on installation of the drivers I've tried the cd and the ones from the update, I've moved the card-etc. I've uninstalled - reinstalled and tried all the suggestions from emails with creative and I'm am getting nowhere. When I install the driver hangs up at the exact same % everytime also the install goes on way to long ( the first machine took 2 rounds at over 20 minutes each. Today I put the card in machine # 3 and gues what it does the same as machine #2. The first install takes forever and ends up sayin g it completed but Upon reboot the audio properties say : "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) This operation returned because the timeout period expired. To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.." and of coarse it doesn't work. How I managed to get the 1st machine to load the drivers baffles me as the other machines suggest to me that vista or creative drivers won't co-operate. I also tried the WDM drivers but they don't work. I desperately want to get this working and have tried for days to resolve the problem but I need help! |

| | Re: Vista Business 32bit Creative Driver Issue You installed drivers from the package's CD? Those are XP drivers and will NEVER work with Vista. And NONE of the applications on the Creative X-Fi installation disk will work with Vista. DO NOT USE ANYTHING ON THE CD IN THE X-Fi PACKAGE. ONLY the Vista drivers AND Vista applications downloaded from Creative's site will work with Vista. There is no sound font application yet. You MUST do a complete manual uninstall of the currently installed X-Fi drivers AND applications and a reinstall of the correct Vista drivers. 1. In Device Manager, right click the X-Fi entry and select Uninstall. IMPORTANT: You MUST check the box to DELETE THE DRIVER FILES files in the uninstall confirmation box. 2. In Control Panel (Classic view) > Programs and Features, uninstall ALL Creative driver and program entries. 3. REBOOT 4. Install ONLY the VISTA X-Fi drivers downloaded from Creative's web site. 5. REBOOT 6. Install ONLY the VISTA X-Fi applications that are CURRENTLY available on the Creative site. I Bleed Blue and Gold GO BEARS!
