| | Vista Business 32bit Creative Driver Issue I just un-installed the Creative Audigy Audio Processor(WDM) drivers amd Creative Audio Console, so I could do a clean update for Bioshock. I have downloaded 'Creative Sound Blaster Audigy series Vista Driver 2.12.0002', restarted my PC, Vista proceeded to pick up my sound card and asked to install Creative Audigy Audio Processor(WDM), so I said yes. It downloads the driver but then fails to install it. <img alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us" src="http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/3549/capturerh1.jpg"> I then tried installing Creative Audio Console (which claims to be updating Windows drivers during isntalltion), but when I open it it gives this error. <img src="http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/534/capture2gb9.jpg" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"> I have used Windows Update to locate my drivers on several occasions and nver ran into this problem before. 'Creative Audigy Audio Processor(WDM)' has been installed succesfully many times before, but why not now? I've been spending the last 3 hours, trying different orders or uninstall/installation of drivers, and switching my Audigy 2ZS to different PCI slots. Anyone have a solution? Thanks in advance. Edit - This shouldn't even be a problem so I don't underastand what the hell is wrong with it. Clean, no drivers. Restart. Vista update downloads then tries to installs Creative Audigy Audio Processor(WDM)- Fails. So I proceed to install Creative Audio Console with drivers, installation goes smoothley. System needs restart. Creative audio console won't load, no device/drivers detected. Windows can't update drivers....this alll makes me a sad panda. Edit 2 - This is the error code I get - <a href="http://img391.imageshack.us/img391/384/capture3hz2.jpg" target="_blank">Error(s) found: Code 800F0203</a> whilst trying to install, which apparantly doesn't exits according to <a href="http://support.microsoft.com/ph/6527/" target="_blank">Microsoft Knowledge Database.</a> Edit 3 - Ok found the error <a href="http://megos.ch/support/doserrors_e.txt/" target="_blank">here</a> - 800F0203 2148467203 SPAPI_E_NO_DRIVER_SELECTED: There is no driver selected for the device information set or element. But the error doesn't make sense, hasn't Windows Update already seleceted a driver for my device and is attempting to install it? |

| | Re: Vista Business 32bit Creative Driver Issue This is one thing I might not blame on Vista but on Creative. I gave up on Creative sound cards after Audigy 1 because of software issues. Are you getting sound? What often happens is that the basic card drivers install but none of the rest of the Creative software to control the card will install. Hence the card "works" but only with the basic Windows software. Without the Creative software you lose access to the features that you bought the card for in the first place. I kept getting the "no card detected" warning regardless of platform (AMD or Intel), chip set and with Creative software for both Win 9.x and XP. Creative was of absolutely no help, denied the problem existed. They said as long as their was sound coming out of the card there was no problem. They would not accept the cards (I have two of them still sitting in a drawer) for RMA service and after walking me through an install, which resulted in the same problems, said they would get back to me. That was several years ago. Hence I think Creative sound cards are a complete ripoff and can only laugh at the positive reviews they receive. |

| | Re: Vista Business 32bit Creative Driver Issue The thing is I have never had this problem before regardless of if I sued my card/drivers on XP Pro 32bit, or Vist Business 32bit. I have installed drivers for my card many times on this exact installation of Vista Business and never experienced this before. As I said in my first post, even Windows Update can install the basic drivers. And also Creative Sound Console can't install the drivers. So Windows Update fails, gives me an error code, which apparantly doesn't exist and has no solution available for it. If you look at the pictures I linked those are the errors I get. Windows Update driver installation error message - http://img442.imageshack.us/my.php?image=capturerh1.jpg Error Code: 800F0203 - http://img391.imageshack.us/img391/384/capture3hz2.jpg This error code is not listed at the Windows Update Support page - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/ph/6527 And this is the error I get after I've 'succesfully' installed Creative Audio Console (latest version with Vista 32bit support) and try to open it. (This is also after Windows Update has failed.) - http://img293.imageshack.us/my.php?i...apture2gb9.jpg Now this has_never_happened to me before, so why would it randomly start now? ![]() |

| | Re: Vista Business 32bit Creative Driver Issue Just to be clear, you downloaded the file SBAXVSD_PCDRV_LB_2_12_0002.exe (38.30 MB) from here http://us.creative.com/support/downl...pe=0&x=35&y=14 and saved it to your desktop. Note the download page says this: Known issues: a.. Applications from the original Sound Blaster Audigy CD will not work with this download. b.. Users are advised to use Audio Console INCLUDED in this download to change speaker configurations. Try this, following the instructions very carefully, step by step: To install the driver, do the following: 1.. Download the SBAXVSD_PCDRV_LB_2_12_0001.exe file into your local hard disk. 2.. Double-click the downloaded file. 3.. Follow the instructions on the screen. To uninstall the driver, do the following: 1.. Click Start -> All Programs -> Control Panel. 2.. Double-click the Device Manager icon. 3.. Double-click the Sound, video and game controllers option. 4.. Right-click the Creative SB Audigy option, and select Uninstall. 5.. From the the Confirm Device Uninstall dialog box, select the Delete the driver software for this device option. Note: This check box MUST be selected to avoid reinstallation issues. 6.. Click the OK button. 7.. Restart your computer. To reinstall the driver, do the following: 1.. Double-click the SBAXVSD_PCDRV_LB_2_12_0001.exe file. 2.. When the message You must restart your computer to apply these changes appears, click the Restart LATER button. 3.. Follow the instructions on the screen. The Creative Audigy Audio Processor (WDDM) is not what you want to install. This is the Windows built-in driver for your soundcard, and not the latest one from Creative. The driver you downloaded is the one you want to install. Once installed, it will have a different name (without WDDM in the name) in Device Manager, under Sound. | | Re: Vista Business 32bit Creative Driver Issue To Dean Dean, yes I did download SBAXVSD_PCDRV_LB_2_12_0002.exe from the official creative site. Now that I look at it I skipped out thus step on un installation - 5.. From the the Confirm Device Uninstall dialog box, select the Delete the driver software for this device option. Note: This check box MUST be selected to avoid reinstallation issues. Other than that there are no entries of creative in Programs and Features, I have even used Driver Cleaner.NET to try and rid myself of all Creative drivers. Now because I skipped that step what can I do to fix it? |

| | Re: Vista Business 32bit Creative Driver Issue Type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotes) in the Start Search box of the Start Menu. Press Enter. This will bring up Device Manager. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers". Then right-click the device shown, Creative SB Audigy (?), and choose Uninstall. This is where you will see the Confirm Device Uninstall dialog box. Then select the "Delete the driver software for this device" option. Restart your computer. Ignore the Windows New Hardware found Wizard if it tries to install a driver, upon reboot. Let it do its thing. The new driver that Windows tries to install probably won't work, but that doesn't matter. Just continue on, now, with the section "To reinstall the driver, do the following:" in my previous post, that is, To reinstall the driver, do the following: 1.. Double-click the SBAXVSD_PCDRV_LB_2_12_0001.exe file. 2.. When the message You must restart your computer to apply these changes appears, click the Restart LATER button. 3.. Follow the instructions on the screen. | | Re: Vista Business 32bit Creative Driver Issue Yes I have tried that many times now. Thats how I uninstalled the drivers in the first place, but I skipped this step. 5.. From the the Confirm Device Uninstall dialog box, select the Delete the driver software for this device option. Note: This check box MUST be selected to avoid reinstallation issues. Now I get a random audio device listed in device manager under 'Other Devices', when I uninstall this I do not get the option anymore to delete the driver software, it just uninstalls it. So I'm now stuck with a Windows Update botched installtion (it fails and places some random device under other devices) The official Creative vista drivers, which install the Audio Console and claims to update Windows Drivers, and asks for system restart. when I restart there is some audio device again under 'other devices', and when I try to load the audio console it gives this error - http://img293.imageshack.us/my.php?i...apture2gb9.jpg. So I cant install/uninstall properly anymore, and I'm starting to panic ![]() Anyway to remove the parts of the creative drivers which I didnt delete on the first uninstall? |

| | Re: Vista Business 32bit Creative Driver Issue Okay. No, If you're seeing Windows generic device or Unknown in Device Manager, under Other Devices, you won't be offered to delete the driver software. Just let that be. What happens, now, when you do the following: 1.. Double-click the SBAXVSD_PCDRV_LB_2_12_0001.exe file. 2.. When the message "You must restart your computer to apply these changes" appears, click the Restart LATER button. 3.. Follow the instructions on the screen. What happen when you click Restart Later? (Which is Creative's suggestion)... Does Device Manager show the correct Device under Sounds? (That is, after having run SBAXVSD_PCDRV_LB_2_12_0001.exe, and not restarting)... Extrememusic for the best in gaming and an EMU 0404 USB that I feed digitally from the X-Fi for great music sound quality. The OP's issue seems like a messed up driver scenario and he needs to clean out the registry of all Creative entries, delete any Creative files and reinstall from scratch. With X-Fi on Vista I just let Microsoft update install the drivers, done this with both Vista 32bit and Vista 64bit with no issues. |
