PCI parallel card can not work

Recently I bought a PCI 1-parallel-2-serial card. After I pluged the card and
installed the driver, the software using parallel port doesn't work. On
Device property/General page, it says "work well", but on Device
property/Resources page, it says "I/O range ... not available". I can not
change the setting because the checkbox of "Use automatic setting" is grayed.
(Btw, I posted the information following a post thread named "LPT3 should be
LPT1" and even I received a inform says someone replied. But the link lead me
to a "Discuss group not found". I don't know what happened. Is there someone
deleted it?
The link I received is

)

RE: PCI parallel card can not work

Hi John,

Did you followed the instructions correctly? Sometimes you need to install
the software BEFORE the card and sometimes AFTER. You could also try a
different slot to see if that helps. You might need to change a setting in
your BIOS, usually Clear Configuration Data or similar, see your motherboard
manual for details. Another thing - are you sure that the driver is Vista
compatible? If not, you might be able to download a compatible driver from
the manufacturers website.

RE: PCI parallel card can not work

Hi Dwarf,

Thank you for your answer. Afterward I realized maybe I should ignore the
"...not available" message, because the card device has all resources which
also belong to ports, without conflict. I guess the problem is the
application software fixed the LPT port base address. I'm trying to figure
out how to change that setting.
