Vista 64 not recognize my cell phone and burns up flashdrives

I have a HP laptop that initially recognized my cingular (at&t) 8525 but now it wont (via usb connection). My xp machines recognize it - havent tried it on another vista machine. It doesnt even recognize a usb device is attached. However when I connect my usb hard drive that works fine, Any ideas?

Also almost every flashdrive I have attached to any USB port on the laptop has been toasted. I used all sandisks - havent tried another brand (they all have the U3 crap on them. I did use sandisks remove utility and it formated the drive as a blank data drive - when I attached the drive - the light came on for a second and then went off. Vista wouldnt recognize the flashdrive and then neither would XP. I heard that 64 bit vista has a problem with flashdrives.

Any ideas would be appreciated, Oh I renamed the infcache.1 file -still no difference

Any brand of flashdrive work with vista 64 bit?

Oh my 32 bit vista desktop trashed a sandisk flashdrive (sandisk micro 2 gig) too

Re: Vista 64 not recognize my cell phone and burns up flashdrives

This doesn't sound like a Vista problem, and I had Vista 64-bit on my HP
laptop without any such problems. I'd get that laptop checked out by a
repair shop if I were you.
