Headset LifeChat LX-3000 as SPEAKERS????

Well I seem to have a little problem, My planitronic headset broke. I went
and bought the Microsoft LX-3000 Headset figuring it has the same basic
functionality a volume control button a mute function for the micophone. It
came with a disk and the Sticker on the USB connector was there to tell you
that you must install the software prior to plugging the headset into the
Computer. The Headset works fine, btw my problem come from the fact that I
am a gamer, and I used VOIP. I also have a rather expensive Surround sound
system that plays all the games sounds or music or whatever I happen to be
doing.

Here is what happens both the LX 3000 Headset and my soundcard/Speakers are
register as speakers in VISTA this means that if I use the volum switch on
the headset the volume of the surround sound speaker is affected, and if I
use the sound control for the speakers the headset volume is affected. In
short they seem to be tied together, which was definitely not the case when
my old faithful was plugged in. IS there anyway for me to cause VISTA to
differntiate between the two?

Thank you for any answer
