    Audio is not working

I have just installed Windows Vista on my computer. I installed it so it
would not keep any of my previous windows files or programs and so it could
start fesh. However, since i have installed Vista there is no sound. I did
everything i could think of. I went to my device manager and i went to "Sound
Video and Gasme controllers" and there is one thing listed which is "Unimodem
Half-Duplex Audio Device" and i tried to update it and everything, but no
matter what, whenever i hover over the volume icon on my task bar, it says
"No Audio Output Device installed" and even if i click on it there are no
    devices. Can anyone help me?

    Click on Start - Run

Enter the following into the Run box.. msinfo32

When the System Information window opens, click on the 'Components' tab, and
    then on 'Sound device.

This will tell you the Sound card manufacturer..

Now go to the manufacturer website and download the Vista drivers for your
    sound card..

Install the Vista drivers for your soundcard.

    Hello Chaz,
You did not say if you have a sound card or if you are using the motherboard
sound device. If so, (the latter option), check in your BIOS when you boot
up, that the BIOS sound option is enabled, (probably a REALTEK sound driver).
    Hope this helps.
    Bye. David.

The Unimodem Half-duplex audio device is the software modem thats supported by your motherboard - it could be using Realtek hardware so you could try installing the drivers for that.

    Chaz,
A unimodem half-duplex device is almost certainly a dial-up modem which you
have on your computer, either as an internal card or as an external device.
It has nothing to do with sound (music) except that you can use it for speech
    like a telephone.
