| | Boot failure with Ready Boost Device installed I am running VISTA Home Premiun w/ current updates on a Gateway MT6828 (T5200 dual core 1.66 GHz w/ 1GB RAM). I have a SANDISK Cruzer 2GB flash drive with Ready Boost enabled with 1.8GB allocated for the cache file. The device has two partitions on it, one is a CDFS partition with the U3 software from SANDISK on it and the other is a FAT partition that is used for the ready boost function. If I have the flash drive plugged in when coming up from a shutdown, the system hangs in the boot phase. If the flash drive is not plugged in the system boots normally. Using another 2 GB SANDISK flash drive which has not been configured for ready boost I do not have this problem as the system will boot from a shutdown without hanging. Any suggestions or comments on why the system hangs in the boot phase with the ready boost device installed would be appreciated as I understand from other posts/threads that ready boost works best if it is left installed at all times. |

| | RE: Boot failure with Ready Boost Device installed I have the exact same problem with a 4g SanDisk Cruzer micro ReadyBoost enhanced flash drive model SDCZ6-4096-A10RB. I have a NON ReadyBoost enhanced Version of the same model flash SDCZ6-4096-A10 drive that does not cause the Boot problem and appears to work with ReadyBoost (at least it shows up as such). SanDisk is of no help whatever. They say you should always remove flash drives before shutdown or ReBoot and reinstall after system is running. Sort of defeats the purpose????
