    No video, perhaps bad driver?

Alright, so, basically when i start my computer, my monitor works fine right
up until the loading bar for vista is done, when it is supposed to display
the round vista circle. my computer won't display the vista circle, or
anything after that. i can, however, load it just fine in safe mode. I'm
    running a nvidia 8800gts, and a 680i sli motherboard. I've tryed system
restore, didn't work. Installing new drivers in safe mode as we speak. Any
    sugestions?

    side notes:
worked fine yesteday, today won't load video.

The display works up until you're just about ready to logon, and also in safe mode. This sound like a refresh-rate problem.

What you need to do is reboot the computer, and then after the POST, but before the Vista Booting Progress Bar appears, continually press F8 to get to the boot menu (The same way you get to Safe Mode). Then select Low Resolution mode.

This will force Vista to boot into a "VGA Compatible" display mode. Once you have booted ok, you can better troubleshoot your display, something that safe mode has always been very poor at doing.

    See if that helps.

I hear where you're coming from, and I believe that I tried this earlier. I'm
running a 22" screen, not that that has to do with anything. I will try again
when I return home from work, but I'm looking for more responses until then.

I'm having the same problem with nvidia 8600gts cards on a 680i SLI MB. I've
tried installing each card by itself and still no luck. I can disable the
drivers when in safe mode and boot to desktop as usual. I was thinking that
maybe one of the cards had died, guess its possible both died. I'm going to
try installing another HD with xp on it and see if that cures the problem.
Any other suggests/help will be much appreciated
