| | HP Laptop Mouse Disappears HP DV6449US... usually happens when notebook goes to sleep and then wakes up... keyboard is OK and pressing Ctrl will locate but not make the cursor visible. Anyone else have this issue or fix? Thanks... Sos |

What I have noticed is that the latest Vista patch bundle seems to have a fix of some sort for the pointing device, which causes the pointer to disappear. Nice fix. So, about a week or so ago, this problem started up for me. When I uninstalled the patches, things worked fine. But I think there is more to this, as my actions are only a band-aid. I use a Logitech USB mouse. I also have the HP expansion dock. other threads I have read relate this problem to issue much deeper in the Vista build and display properties. |

I have read threads other places than here.... talked to Microsoft that offers a hotfix (worked for a day), talked to HP and they offered a patch for the BIOS... that worked a day... so far the one thing that is still working is this.... add mouse pointer trails... set to short to reduce the annoyance factor... and it seems to work.... when I first did this I had lost the pointer and with the keyboard got myself to be able to activate the trails... the pointer returned immediately much to my surprise and pleasure....
