Vista - Compact Flash and ReadyBoost

Are Compact Flash cards compatible with ReadyBoost? Autoplay doesn't show an
option to use the card for performance enhancement. Do I have to enable the
ReadyBoost feature from the control panel somewhere? I'm trying to use my
SanDisk 256MB CF card.

The card is plugged into the 9-in-1 (4 slot) card reader on the front of my
machine. I'm running Beta 2 Build 5384.

I've actually been reading the Q&A page that you posted the link to. So far
everything checks out, so I dunno.

Ah, this is interesting.

I cannot get ReadyBoost to acknowledge my CF card at all, but when I plug in
a 2GB iPod nano, the ReadyBoost tab tells me that "This device does not have
the required performance characteristics for use in speeding up your system."

And I understand, since Matt Ayer's Q&A page says that MP3 players are not
supported. I just find it perplexing that ReadyBoost will acknowledge the MP3
player, and not my CF card. The card itself must not be compatible?

It sounds like the OS might be seeing your cf card reader as a floppy disk
type device...which they dont support

I think that option is only available to USB thumb drives.

How is the CF card connected to the computer. Any card that uses usb 1.1 will
not work with vista. Needs to be USB 2.0.

You might not have enough space on your card to use it:
Q: What's the smallest ReadyBoost cache that I can use
A: The smallest cache is 256MB (well, 250 after formatting). Post beta2, we
may drop it another 10 MB or so.
