Recording from Telephone to CD Help

I need to record my phone conversations to a CD on my laptop. Does anyone
know what I need to do this? I have Vista Home Premium. I used to record
these conversations to a cassette recorder however, cassette players are
becoming rarer and rarer. I used a recording control from Radio Shack that
attached to my phone and then to my recorder. The guy at Radio Shack said
this will work, however the mic end has two plugs and there is only one mic
plug on my laptop???

Re: Recording from Telephone to CD Help

i could help you but it would mean having you do some pretty complicated
work like taking a telephone wire and turning it into a headset plug to
connect to your pc. and if you don't know how to do some electrical work it
would be too hard for you. unless you buy a speakerphone and a microphone
that you connect to pc and record from that. other than that i have no idea.

Re: Recording from Telephone to CD Help

You can purchase a Y-adapter. It's generally used for situations where you
need two sets of headphones if you want to share your MP3 player with a
friend and both listen, but will also work 'backwards' for connecting two
mini-jack plugs (which is what you have) to a single line in port (which is
what your notebook has).

Remember that your must tell the person the other end that the conversation
is being recorded and obtain their permission to record, otherwise it is
illegal.
