| | reinstalling Vista After having serious problems with my Vista installation, and finding that when I tried to repair the installation it would not take, I decided to reinstall Vista from scratch. When I entered my activation code in in the installation screen, I got a message that to activate with that code, I should reinstall Vista from the currently installed version. Since I am unable to get into that version, this leaves me confused as to how to properly install Vista with it's activation. The OS is being installed on the same computer it has been operating on, but I want to reformat and repartition the hard drive. In doing that, how can I handle the activation? I am also unsure of just how to reformat and repartition the drive as part of the install. Thanks for any assistance. -- Larry S |

| | Re: reinstalling Vista Larry If you are using an upgrade product key, this is why you are getting that message. You can still perform a clean install, which basically involves installing without using the Product Key, starting the system and then reinstalling from within that first install using your upgrade product key. You can see the details on the following website.
