| | question about: vista default user profile & registry\shell issues Hello all, Have recently upgraded to vista company wide. With xp, we would have a default profile set up so that all users that logged on had this profile. I tried to do the same with Vista on a sysprepped image, however I am having an issue where any user that logs on that gets the default profile, also gets the registry settings from that dummy/default profile. This is including the shell extensions pointing to c:\users \user ("user" was the dummy profile i setup and copied to default) so when we install software like autocad, every profile tries to use the same working directory of c:\users\user and its causing alot of havok. I do not want to have to go in for every user and change their shell folders to c:\users\%userprofile% Any way to get a nice default profile setup, without taking accross such settings? Thanks |

| | RE: question about: vista default user profile & registry\shell issues Hello, use the copyprofile setting in the unattended.xml From the Windows AIK unattend help file> CopyProfileUse the following steps to use CopyProfile to set customized user profiles: Log on as a user whose profile you can customize (for example, the built-in-administrator account). Customize the desired user profile settings. Set CopyProfile to true in the Unattend.xml file that you will use with Sysprep in the next step. Run sysprep /generalize unattend:unattend.xml to copy the customized user profile settings over the default user profile. All subsequent user accounts that are created will have the customizations that you have set. For details about Sysprep, see the Sysprep Technical Reference in the Windows OEM Preinstallation Kit (Windows OPK) User's Guide. (Opk.chm). This setting does not copy the built-in administrator profile unless the built-in administrator is the currently logged-on user.
