| | installer stops responding why does the installer stop responding? i installed vista on another pc without any problems. today i bought a brand new hp computer. it even says "vista compatible" on it. when i put in the dvd, i can get to the screen where it asks me to put in my key. once i enter that and click next, nothing ever happens. help! thanks... |

| | Re: installer stops responding Are you installing to an empty partition or hard drive (hope so!)? Also if Windows is preinstalled be aware that Vista may overwrite the code that enables the initialization of the recovery process and you may have problems recovering the computer to its factory condition. | | Re: installer stops responding yeah, empty partition. i finally got it to work. didnt really do anything different. just kept ending task on the installer and kept trying again until eventually it worked. lol. was frustrating. now my sound, mic, and wireless network card dont work. and my computer says i only have 64mb video (actually have 256). but thats a whole 'nother forum. lol "Colin Barnhorst" wrote: > Are you installing to an empty partition or hard drive (hope so!)?
