installer stops responding

why does the installer stop responding? i installed vista on another pc
without any problems. today i bought a brand new hp computer. it even says
"vista compatible" on it. when i put in the dvd, i can get to the screen
where it asks me to put in my key. once i enter that and click next, nothing
ever happens. help! thanks...

Re: installer stops responding

Are you installing to an empty partition or hard drive (hope so!)? Also if
Windows is preinstalled be aware that Vista may overwrite the code that
enables the initialization of the recovery process and you may have problems
recovering the computer to its factory condition.

Re: installer stops responding

yeah, empty partition.

i finally got it to work. didnt really do anything different. just kept
ending task on the installer and kept trying again until eventually it
worked. lol. was frustrating. now my sound, mic, and wireless network card
dont work. and my computer says i only have 64mb video (actually have 256).
but thats a whole 'nother forum. lol
