| | Vista Ultimate after Reinstall Hi. I purchased a laptop with OEM Vista Home Premium, which I upgraded to Vista Ultimate using the online option and Staples as as the reseller. Somehow I got what I needed to perform the upgrade at the time, but I don't remember what that was, and I don't have a copy of it. Meanwhile, my laptop started bluescreening so often that I finally used the OEM recovery DVD to reinstall. This worked well, but now I'm trying to figure out how to re-upgrade to Vista Ultimate without re-purchasing the upgrade. I went to the anytime upgrade site, and it's option for recovering the license key from the vault didn't work for me; my windows live login returned no licenses in the vault, and I don't have any notifications regarding registering with a different login. Perhaps this was just an option at purchase time that I didn't sign up for? I've tried contacting the customer assistance using the email address on the website, but it's apparently not being monitored. I've sent two emails over the past calendar week and I'm not getting any response; not even an auto-response. I tend to keep all my license emails for online purchases and website registrations in a local folder, but this particular transaction is strangely missing from all my documentation (other than the credit card charge on the bank statement). I have no receipts, no emails, and no paperwork, although I do have the anytime disk that they sent me a few days later! I'm wondering if anyone knows of any way to get past this hurdle. Is there perhaps an alternate contact I can reach out to for this, or some way to bypass the staples middle-man? (It doesn't even show up in my list of staples purchases on staples.com, so I'm assuming that the anytime upgrade is a totally-detached storefront where Microsoft is giving some visibility to its resellers, but it's managing the store for them and they aren't necessarily well integrated.) I'm stumped, and don't even know what my next step should be, or even what questions to ask. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Bob Smiley |
