| | Vista on 32GB flashdrive? Hi, From a Vista Ultimate PC is it possible to make a 32GB flash drive with a bootable new copy of any Vista version? If not would a bigger flash drive work? What are the steps to make a bootable Vista externa USB hard drive? Thanks, viepia |

| | Re: Vista on 32GB flashdrive? Windows Vista can only be installed on an internal hard drive. Flash drives are not designed to run programs....they are designed for file storage only. -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User --------------------------------------------------------------- <viepia@xxxxxx> wrote: Hi, From a Vista Ultimate PC is it possible to make a 32GB flash drive with a bootable new copy of any Vista version? | | Re: Vista on 32GB flashdrive? Sorry Carey, Soney have VAIO laptops with 32gig flash internal Hard Drive, and a bonus 120 gig External hard drive to keep Data. You have not been keeping up. You can install on Flash; this is the way of the future. No more platters!!!!! But, the cost is $3,999 for a Core 2 duo 1.2Ghz CPU, 11.1" screen Mick Murphy - Gold Coast - Australia "Carey Frisch [MVP]" wrote: Quote: > Windows Vista can only be installed on an internal > hard drive. | | Re: Vista on 32GB flashdrive? Sorry, but you are a bit confused. Sony offers a "solid state drive" and not a conventional"flash drive" on some of their PCs. -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User --------------------------------------------------------------- "Mick Murphy" wrote: Sorry Carey, Soney have VAIO laptops with 32gig flash internal Hard Drive, and a bonus 120 gig External hard drive to keep Data. | Vista Ultimate X64 | Re: Vista on 32GB flashdrive? I think Mick Murphy got himself on the ban list ![]() Hi viepia, I have heard this can be done but I'm not sure. What I have sucessfully done is prepare a usb stick and copy the the vista dvd to it then perform an upgrade on a Xp machine to Vista Ultimate using the usb stick. No dvd drive or Vista dvd needed to do the upgrade. It was pretty kool! ![]() Raj |
