Vista Home premium 32bit repair

I suddenly got the BSOD yesterday and Vista refused to start up, I have
tried the repair console but it does not seem to do anything? I let it run
all night (10hrs) and still nothing. If I try and install Vista again, I just
get the egg timer and again nothing happens. I tried system restore but it
states I have a disk error that needs repaired first before it can continue
but again I let it run for hours and nothing happens. If I start in safe
mode, it stops at crcdisk.sys and goes no further. If I try to start Vista
normally, I get the horizontal bar with the animation running along it and
then nothing.
Any ideas what I can do to repair Vista or reinstall it?

Richard.

Re: Vista Home premium 32bit repair

could you possible have a hardware issue? If all else fails re-install, but
is sounds like you have tried that. If that doesn't work you might have a
bad hardware something, HDD or RAM

RE: Vista Home premium 32bit repair

To reinstall Vista, set your BIOS to boot from CD/DVD drive with disk in it.
when it reboots, delete the existing vista partition, formatt, and
reinstall. It will be almost automatic.
Disconnect any USB peripherals, except mouse and keyboard, before doing the
above. If a SATA hard drive, make sure you have drivers for it.

If it is under Warranty, contact the manufacturer.

Bootup with your Vista DVD and begin...then cancel an installation.

You should be left with a cmd window

now run log on to your C: drive
and run chkdsk /r

you will be asked if you want to dis-mount...say yes.

If it finds and repairs problems you should be all set...

if it's still a no-go...I'd go the the mfg's site for your hardrive and
download and run their diagnostic utility

Re: Vista Home premium 32bit repair

Hi all,

Thanks for the replies. I discovered that if I removed two RAM modules I
could reinstall Vista. I will send the RAM to Crucial for testing.
thanks again.

Re: Vista Home premium 32bit repair

Hi,

This is the second matched pair of modules from Crucial that have failed in
the last couple of months.
