Laptops

People have told me I should NOT turn off the laptop if it is going to be
off for several hours...instead put it in sleep mode. Is this right?
Also, I have my laptop plugged in the power so I don't use my battery very
often. Should I just take the battery out, or does it make a difference?
Thanks.

Re: Laptops

Regardless of whether the machine is a desktop or a laptop my maxim has
always been 'if it's not being used, turn it off.'

Re: Laptops

If you always turn it off the battery will drain a small amount and then be
quickly charged up again when you turn it back on.
This can cause the battery to go dead after an extended period of time since
charging it back up from almost fully charged state wears it out.
So if you are always going to have it plugged in then I you may want to
remove the battery..
