Another Vista SP1 Query

I turned on my computer this am and noticed the win d/l and/or win update
icon on my task bar. I clicked Windows Update and it said it was trying to
install Windows Vista RC1. Why? What did I do? RC1 indicates it's a beta so
why is my computer trying to install it? I stopped the download/install
because I really didn't understand why this happened.

Re: Another Vista SP1 Query

Interesting - my system installed Vista RC1. Now when I check the
memory(installed) it says 4.00 gigs instead of 3.36! I'll putz around a
while and see what problems occur. This surely can't be a stable environment
I'm working in. As to the install, I think my kid has/had something to do
with this.

Re: Another Vista SP1 Query

Yes it appears that someone else using your system downloaded and installed
the registry change the enabled WinUpdate to then download and install SP1
RC1 on your system. I have RC1 running on 3 systems without any problems at
all and I do notice better performance as a benefit.
