Downgrade - Vista Home Premium to XP

I have just built a new PC and installed Vista Home Premium X64, basically, I
am having a lot more software compatibility issues than I expected - some
with programs I require for work purposes and as such can’t be without.

Could someone please confirm that Microsoft are not allowing you to use your
purchased Vista licence to temporarily downgrade to XP while the well
publicised compatibility issues are addressed?

You cannot use a Vista product key to install XP. You'll need to purchase an
XP license.

Re: Downgrade - Vista Home Premium to XP

Thought as much - as I would only want to downgrade for a short time until
the compatibility issue wasnt so bad cant really justify buying another
windows licence. What about switching to the 32bit version is that possible
as I have now discovered the main program I require is 32bit compatible?

Re: Downgrade - Vista Home Premium to XP

Is your license OEM or retail? IIRC (and I'll be corrected if I'm wrong) if
you have the retail version, you can request the 32 bit install DVD from
Microsoft and use your current product key to install it, if you have an OEM
license you'd have to purchase Vista 32 bit.

Downgrade rights don't extend to any version of Vista Home, they only apply
to Business and Ultimate. Unfortunately you will have to purchase a
separate XP license to get to XP.
