Delete services loaded at startup

I am new to Vista. How do I delete sewrvices that startup? I can delete
programs but not services. I want to delete a backup program from loading at
startup. It is not in the list of programs at startup as seen in Windows
Defender. I miss mscongfig!!

What version of Vista are you running? I have MSCONFIG on my system.

Right click on "Computer" in the start menu and choose "Manage". Then at
the bottom of the left hand pane, expand "Services and Applications" then
click on "Services". ON the right hand side will be all the services that
run and you can change the desired service to "Manual" or "Disabled".

Re: Delete services loaded at startup

The service that I want to delete does not appear in the list under Computer
Manage Services. it is a backup exe file and it is started on startup
because I can see it when I check through Start Task Manager.

How can I find and disable this on startup in Vista Home Premium?

Re: Delete services loaded at startup

msconfig is still available. On task manager, on the file tab, click on new
task and type in msconfig There are a half dozen other ways to start it.
Use run etc.

Hi tweedy48,

You can check to see if it is listed in METHOD THREE here to.

Startup Programs - Enable or Disable

What is the name of the backup exe that is starting up with Vista? See if Googling it will let you know what program it is for, then see if you can turn off a startup with Vista option in that program's settings.

Hoep this helps,
Shawn

RE: Delete services loaded at startup

Start>Programs>accessories>Run> type in msconfig.

It is still there, just hidden, lol.
