    Hi, JMayerDesign.

Well, how much storage do you have available?

There are dozens of models of Sony VAIO with a wide range of hard drives,
RAM and other components. You'll need to be more specific to give us a fair
    chance to help you.

How big is your hard drive (or drives if more than one)? How much software
was pre-installed, and how much - applications and data - have you added
before the current installation attempt? Sound files are usually not too
large, but video and other graphics files take a lot of room. If you need
much multimedia, then "Vista for Business" may not be the best version for
    your purposes.

Vista's own functions can take a lot of room. The hibernation file, the
paging file, system restore points and other files cans use a lot of disk
space. But we don't really know where to start because we don't know
anything about your computer. We can't see it, so all we know is what
    you've told us.

41GB of HD space remain. i can't tell you as far as RAM left, except when i
look at the task manager it shows only 6% of CPU being used.. 58% of
    physical memory..

another thing i should mention was that prior to this, i was trying to
install an external hard drive's driver.. i followed some microsoft
directions for hotfixes with problems installing a hard drive and other
external devices.. neither was installed.. instead, what happened was the
hotfixes made mbe get this error mentioned here along with the WPD Filesystem
volume driver being corrupted and my audio quitting.. also i should note that
if i click on "Computer" where it usually says system specs various specs are
now listed as unknown.. and the windows installer and updater has some
problems. I am using a Sony Vaio with Windows Vista Business.

Re: Win 32: Not enough storage is available to complete this operation

Hi JD, can you tell me if you were able to fix this and how? I have precisely what you describe subsequent to Vista updates yesterday. Totally screwed my system. I was already struggling trying to make a new purchase of Office 2007 work with Vista Home Premium (and not succeeding with the constant "wait while Office configures" crap). Having wasted three full days doing my best, reading forum after forum, it appeared to me that really the only thing that will fix this is SP1. Not out until April - but there were three pre-requisite updates listed that one should have prior to obtaining SP1. Thinking this might at least get me some way towards a fix (having truly tried every single fix, workaround, reg edit, permission and ownership suggestion on the web), I downloaded and installed three updates:
    Windows6.0-KB940105-x86.msu
    Windows6.0-KB941649-v2-x86.msu
    Windows6.0-KB943302-v2-x86.msu
While believe it or not, I got Outlook and Word working without the configure loop, my system is totally screwed. Exactly the errors you describe in same order.
Guys, I really need some help here. I don't have Windows disc with me (I am housesitting and all my stuff is in storage in another city!) and Microsoft has completely lost the plot.
    Please help. Urgent.
