How to remove multi-booting

I multi-booted my hard drive so I could try out some Linux releases. I'm
done with that now and would like to restore my hard drive to single booting
of Vista only. Is there something in my Vista Upgrade DVD or the Vista
Recovery Console or somewhere else that will set the MBR back so it points
directly to Vista?

Thanks.
Bob

Bob,

where does the MBR point now? Did you use any third-party
software for the boot menu?

If not, then it's not the MBR that needs to change. It may be
enough to edit boot.ini.

Maybe the following utility would be useful:

Hi Bob,

This will show you how to select the default OS partition to boot to in Vista.

Boot Partition - Default

Hope it helps,
Shawn

Yes, as I mentioned, I installed Linux, specifically, the Grub boot loader.

To the second partition on the hard disk. Vista is in the first partition.

Re: How to remove multi-booting

The boot controls in the System dialog are only for Windows partitions, not
for Linux.

Bob,

in that case you have to rewrite the MBR, which is never
entirely risk-free.

One possible way to do it is the command: fdisk /mbr

I don't know the precise details and guess that you'll have to
find out how best to uninstall Grub.
