Vista installation doesn't recognize my hard drive

When I get to the "choose what drive you wish to install to" step it doesn't
detect my hard drive (which is a WD Caviar SE 500GB). I've looked for my
SATA drivers for my mobo (which is a Gigabyte GA-X38-DS4) but I don't
anything that I need.

Also, according to my motherboard guide the only time I should need the
drivers are when I have RAID or AHCI mode enabled, neither of which I am
using.

If anyone has any advice on what I should try I would greatly appreciate it.

RE: Vista installation doesn't recognize my hard drive

Does your Bios see the drive? If it does you will have to format it with the
manufactures cd or you can download that software from the manufactures web
site. If the Bios does not see it then that is a hardware problem or bad
cable connection from the power cable or communications cable.
