| | Vista Troubles Hi, I tested my new build this morning using Windows Vista Premium using these items. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/131173 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/131950 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/130429 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/118268 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/116522 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/105994 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/138786 I use an old IDE 60GB HD - master, and a 18x DVD drive - slave, on the same IDE 1 port. But when I start to install Vista it says this "Windows needs to restart to continue" which it does fine then it starts and says this " Please wait while windows starts for the first time..." then after about 15 seconds it restarts again and it then says this as it tries to boot windows "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click 'ok' to restart the application and then restart the installation". Also I noticed on boot where it as the black screen at the start it says this "Memory runs at single channel." from time to time but not allways. Any ideas? |

When is the last time you thoroughly tested your memory with a product such as MemTest? http://www.memtest86.com/ I ask because your description of the BIOS message ""Memory runs at single channel." from time to time but not allways." tells me something's not right with the motherboard of the memory. |

| | Re: Vista Troubles Delete all partitions on the hard drive first, then install. You can do this during the initial install phase.
