| | Virtual PC 2007 on Vista Ultimate SP1 RTM Hi all, I just installed SP1 from technet recently, and decided to try my hand at virtualization for the first time today. Once Virtual PC 2007 is installed, my system BSoDs during every boot. The only way to gain access to windows is safe mode, or using the last known good state. After using last known good state, VPC 2007 is installed, but won't work (as the drivers/services have been removed during install). I've uninstalled the remainder of VPC 2007 and rebooted; no problems. Tried again to installed VPC, and after reboot it once again BSoDs endlessly. So it stems the error is recreatable (at least on my machine). Any thoughts on what's going on or how to fix it? Cheers, Ryan |

| | Re: Virtual PC 2007 on Vista Ultimate SP1 RTM Have you downloaded a fresh copy of VPC? The initial download might be bad. | | Re: Virtual PC 2007 on Vista Ultimate SP1 RTM I had the same problem after using VPC 2007. (Not running SP1 though & Vista 64bits) After examining the memory dump & using Google I found out the problem was caused by a (integrated) network driver. After downloading & installing a new driver the BSoDs were gone!!! Ashame though that this (signed) driver is not downloaded automaticly when selecting the driver update function. | | Re: Virtual PC 2007 on Vista Ultimate SP1 RTM Thanks Ciro, I updated my BIOS - a challenging task with no floppy drive and a CDROM that DOS doesn't recognize - and VPC is now working fine. Thanks again! Ryan "Ciro" wrote: Quote: > I had the same problem after using VPC 2007. | Windows 7 RC | Re: Virtual PC 2007 on Vista Ultimate SP1 RTM Glad to hear that Virtual PC is up and running for you. I tried to use it with ubuntu, but had problems getting ubuntu to install properly. Then I was told about an open source program called the Virtual Box. I installed it and have ubuntu working perfectly. You may want to try it as an alternative. Here's the link: VirtualBox Good luck with your OS within an OS |
