SP1 fails, computer doesn't start

I have installed SP1 in the morning. Took a very long time .
After installation it gave me trouble with starting up, but managed somehow
to get is started at least once.
It said I had a problem with my modem driver.
I tried to get an updated driver, but windows told me I did have the latest
version.
Anyway I shut off the machine again but it doesn't want to get started now.
First I get a screen with two option:
Launch Startup Repair
or
Start windows normally

The first option doesn't work at all. Nothing happens.
The second one restarts windows and gets me to a Bluescreen with memory dump
The error message is:
0x00000007 (0x000011013,0x00010204,0x833D2938)

have no idea what it means

Can anyone help ?

Lazlo

I've got the same problem. Restart computer in Safe Mode. Go to Device
Manager, select MODEM and disable. Restart computer. Should boot up now.

I'm using the Best Data 56FW92 PCI modem. I've tried two different
drives so far and have downloaded a third from Conexant but haven't
tried it yet. A worse case is that you might have to get a
Vista compatible modem. I only used mine for faxes and those are few
and far in between since I use email mostly.

Re: SP1 fails, computer doesn't start

I have no idea how to start in Safe Mode
Doesn't give me that option
Nothing happens when I hit F8

However after 10 or so try it started up again and I have uninstalled the
modem in Windows.
I still do not dare to shut down the machine.
