Auto Logon

How do you change Vista so that it will automatically enter my password and
log on completely?
I want to avoid the welcome screen that displays my login (along with Admin
& Guest Accounts). My main login is the default and I'm the only person
that uses this computer.

Thanks

Re: Auto Logon

Hello,

Click Start
Type: control userpasswords2
Press enter
If asked for permission, click Continue
Uncheck the checkbox next to "Users must enter a username and password to
use this computer"
Click Apply
Enter the user name and password you wish to automatically log on with
Click OK
Click OK

Re: Auto Logon

Thanks... that is what I was looking for.
Another question (out of curiosity)

Is there another way to get to "control userpasswords2"?
I've looked in the Control Panel and did not find the same thing. I also
tried a right mouse click on My Computer and selected "manage". This did
not get me there either.

Thanks

Re: Auto Logon

Not that I am aware of. This is the "advanced user control panel" from
Windows XP. It may be present in the UI in Longhorn Server, I'm not sure ...
if it is, I'm sure someone will find a registry hack to make it available in
the Vista UI.

Re: Auto Logon

This doesn't seem to work in Build 5536, anyway, not on mine.

Re: Auto Logon

Courius!
How do you get to the next build (5536). I have the older build.
Read about the new build coming out but did not know if you could upgrade to
it or not.
Thanks
